Easily updated over the web via USB connection The New Road Angel has all the features of the Classic Road Angel plus a few more of its own! The unit is compact in size, whilst the ergonomic design provides an easy to read display that can be conveniently attached to the interior of the windscreen using the supplied magnetic suction-cup mounting bracket. A dash pad is also provided for mounting the unit on the dashboard, and a removable anti-glare visor is also included to prevent bright sunshine from making the display difficult to read. The unit has no less than six different types of warning, which can alert the user to the use or presence of Gatso, TruVelo, Watchman, Speedcurb, SPECS, temporary Gatso or TruVelo sites used in roadworks, fixed mobile, DS2 and Speedmaster speed detectors, accident blackspots, primary school proximities and congestion charging zones. Each type of hazard warning is indicated by one of six corresponding visual logos on the display. A total of 50,000 locations can be stored in the unit, and the user has the ability to delete existing locations and add those of their own. Audio warnings can be set to the desired volume level, and there is even the option to set the unit to alert you if your speed exceeds a user-defined level. A slow speed mute function can be enabled to prevent the unit from providing alerts if you are travelling at less than 15 mph, whilst speed sensitive volume can be switched on or off to make the New Road Angel emit louder alerts dependent on how fast the vehicle is travelling. There is a high-intensity LED in the top of the unit, which provides a bright indication of alerts which is useful for night-time driving. In addition, the display also shows your speed in Km/h or mph, the time, and your latitude, longitude and heading. The ResueLoc feature allows you to quote your bearings to rescue services - great for easy location of your vehicle should you break down in a remote area! The alert distance can be set to 250, 500 or 1000 metres prior to the location of the camera or hazard, and there is also a speed distance sensitivity feature, which doubles the alert distance if the vehicle is travelling at more than 50 mph. Updates to include recently added cameras are easily performed using the update software, which is either downloaded to your PC or posted out to you by Blackspot Interactive once you have registered your unit online or by post. This requires a PC with Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 or XP, with Internet Explorer Version 5.5 or above installed. Your PC will also need to have a USB port available, to connect the New Road Angel to your PC and download the updates on to the unit. Apple Mac computers are not supported.
